Status: pilot in preparation, October 2026. This page will be updated with real numbers after launch. Nothing here is a result yet.
The space
A small coworking in Constanța, a port city on the Romanian Black Sea coast. No front desk. One entrance door with an electronic lock, no turnstile. All seats cost the same and are not assigned — a member books a seat for a time window and sits anywhere free.
The audience is mixed: locals who need a desk a few hours a week, and remote workers who stay in the city for a few weeks in season and want to pay for time, not for a month. That is exactly the case where a front desk does not pay for itself and the door has to do the job.
What the owner asked for
- A visitor picks a time and duration and pays online, without creating an account first.
- After payment they get access to the room only for the paid period — by QR, code or an "open" button.
- They can leave and come back within the period, and pay to extend it from the phone.
- The system limits bookings to the number of available seats.
- When the time is over, re-entry is blocked, exit stays free, the owner can message the person and block repeat offenders.
- The door must keep working if the internet drops, and exit must always be possible.
What we are putting in
Door: the Entryspot door kit — N-GATE PRO controller, two RFID readers, a fail-safe electric bolt lock, a 12 V backup supply with a 20 Ah battery, an exit button and a door contact. The kit ships from modvex.net, our EU store.
Software: hourly booking with seat capacity, online payment before access, a reminder 15 minutes before the end with one-tap extension, guest passes, an event log and member blocking.
Tailgating: a camera at the door takes a snapshot on every opening and the photo is attached to the log event. If two people walk in on one pass, the owner sees it and blocks the account or messages the member from the log. The rule "one pass — one person" goes into the house rules.
What will be measured
- Hours sold per seat per week, in season and off season.
- Extension rate — the share of bookings extended from the phone.
- No-shows — paid bookings never scanned at the door.
- Declined entries after the window ended, and how many turned into extensions.
- Door uptime: openings served while the connection was down.
Timeline
Kit shipped and wired, software configured, first members in — then eight weeks of data. Results will be published here.
